The Origins
AN ESTATE RICH IN HISTORY
The estate falls partly in Contrada San Lorenzo and partly in Contrada Campo Re, from which the project takes its name. The Contrada Campo Re is so named because after the Sicilian Vespers of 1282 that led to the expulsion of the Angevins from Sicily.
King Peter III of Aragon, who became Peter I of Sicily, came to Randazzo and camped with his army in a locality not far from Randazzo, called for that very reason “Campo Re.”
The estate that belonged to a noble Sicilian family for years was taken over by the Madaudo family in 2016.
The turning point took place in 2016 when the estate was purchased by Maria Pia Madaudo who, together with her sister Cristina, embarked on the ambitious project of returning to the fief and the ancient millstone the original value of a place designed and organized for the production of wine . The two young entrepreneurs, thanks to their ten-year family experience in the wine sector and the precious advice handed down by their grandfather, now kept and implemented, have decided to combine their passion for wine and for the Etna area. The company mission is to give life to good wine, in harmony with nature, bringing innovation but with a constant reference to tradition.
